Beverly Arsem : Xoma Fiber Arts

65 Sprague Street  Studio 8

Xoma Fiber Arts Studio is the place where I create pieced, quilted, dyed and printed textile pieces.    Some of the works are traditional quilting pieces, and then some veer off into more random designs.  Other artists often influence my work, ranging from Henri Matisse, Sonia Delauney, and other abstract artists, to Nancy Crow and the Gee's Bend quilters.  In addition, my many years of chamber music piano playing also makes it way into my quilts.

Artist's Bio

I have been squeezing in time to work on quilted pieces for the last ten to twelve years.  I am honored to have had quilts of mine selected to be in the Lowell Quilt Festival,  Eliot School Student/Faculty Show,  JP Open Studios juried show,  WGBH Open House, Community Music Center of Boston's Allen Hall, and most recently, at Rocky Neck Art Center "twentythirteen" show.

For the last two years, I have been teaching a class at the Eliot School (Classes in Crafts & Fine Arts) in Jamaica Plain on Contemporary Art Quilts and on Surface Design Techniques for Quilting.
